I for one envy a few things in life, like Bill Gates wealth, Brad Pitt’s looks and Bods etc etc
But I guess its fine. You cross the line when you start envying your neighbours and colleagues. It poisons one’s mind slowly and you can’t even focus. It is good if you can channelize that envy for a good thing like working harder to earn more, to work an extra hour in the gym to get that 6 pack, but more often than not, envy gives negative energy.
Here are some quotes just for that.

“Envy, to which th’ ignoble mind’s a slave, Is emulation in the learn’d or brave.”

“It was well said that envy keeps no holidays.”

“It is the practice of the multitude to bark at eminent men, as little dogs do at strangers.”

“It is in the character of very few men to honour without envy a friend who has prospered.”

“Who among us hasn’t envied a cat’s ability to ignore the cares of daily life and to relax completely?”

“Envy is the art of counting the other fellow’s blessings instead of your own.”

“Fools may our scorn, not envy, raise. For envy is a kind of praise.”

“As iron is eaten away by rust, so the envious are consumed by their own passion.”

“Envy! eldest-born of hell! ”

“There are as many mediocrities exalted through pity as masters decried through envy.”

Envy Quotes

“You can’t be envious and happy at the same time”

“Envy shoots at others and wounds itself”

On a Positive note, ‘How much better a thing it is to be envied than to be pitied.”

“Envy eats nothing but its own heart”

Here is a quote from Bible, “A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.”
